More businesses from all over the world are moving online, and more and more customers are making purchases from stores outside their country.

As business owners, we need to be aware of the changing competitive landscape.

And from one aspect of the business it can be concluded that what always changes are the shipments.

So if you are using Oberlo or AliExpress for the purpose of dropshipping for your customers, this article will benefit you even more.

I will explain how ePacket works, and maybe I can answer the frequently asked questions about ePacket shipping.

Shipping via ePacket has made more people order products from China much easier.

To maintain a competitive advantage over merchants in China, it is important to understand what ePacket shipping is and why it has become a popular shipping method from China and Hong Kong.

ePacket is a shipping option offered by merchants in China and Hong Kong. Allowing merchants to provide fast and affordable delivery.

In the US Saturday 2011, the Postal Service officially announced a new shipping service following an agreement between Hong Kong POST and eBay in China, which allows packages from China and Hong Kong to be shipped via USPS first class.

As the name ("e-packet") implies, The shipping service was designed and established for e-commerce, to make it cheaper and faster for consumers to receive their purchases from online stores and markets shipped from China and Hong Kong.

In the past, "China EMS" was the only and inexpensive option to ship products to customers.

Take more than a month or more for customers to receive their packages.

Other fast options were too expensive, especially for small cheap products.

EPacket shipping started as a fast and affordable shipping solution from China and Hong Kong to the United States.

Over the years, ePacket has expanded into 35 other countries such as: Canada and Australia.

How ePacket tracking works

Free ePacket provides tracking number from China to end-to-end customers at no extra cost, allowing them to easily locate their packages on official websites such as EMS and USPS.

Any non-deliverable mail is also returned for free, which means merchants will have no problems returning products to customers who do not receive their purchase.

You can often see the ePacket offered as a shipping option by merchants from China on websites such as eBay, AliExpress, and Oberlo.

However, any merchant in China and Hong Kong can offer shipping via ePacket if the package meets the requirements for ePacket shipping.

What are the requirements for using ePacket shipping? According to the UN

According to the United States Postal Service, there are several requirements when it comes to a package sent through ePacket.

The maximum length of the package can be only 24 "(60 cm) and the total length, height and thickness of the package can not be more than 36" (90 cm).

In addition, the package cannot weigh more than £ 4.4 (2kg) and will not exceed $ 400 to be eligible for ePacket shipping.

The package must also be sent from China or Hong Kong to one of the 35 eligible countries.

Which countries have ePacket shipments available? As of February 2018, 35 countries support ePacket deliveries:

How long does it take for ePacket shipping to reach X?

Depending on the destination of the package, customs, holidays, other delays, the delivery time may vary.

However, ePacket shipping seems to be a much more consistent option, compared to other cost-effective shipping options from China and Hong Kong.

On average to the United States, a package can take 10-20 days to arrive from the date of shipment.

Other countries may see a similar or longer average delivery time. Keep in mind that this is pretty fast considering the amount of processed packages in bulk that are shipped every day all the way to the destination.

Fortunately, all of this can be easily monitored thanks to a tracking service from China to Israel included with ePacket shipments, giving customers peace of mind while their package tries to reach them.

How do I track ePacket shipping?

There are several ways to track your ePacket delivery.

The first is to use one of the official sites, depending on where your shipment goes.

While the package is still in China, use EMS.

When your package is in the US, use USPS. Alternatively, you can use third-party tracking services if you have difficulty using official sites:

  1. AfterShip
  2. PackageTrackr
  3. 17TRACK

If you purchased your product on a website such as Ali Express, in displaying the order details it will usually be possible to show you the status of the package.

Note: China EMS carries the ePacket as a distinct shipping method.

How do I know if my shipment is an ePacket delivery?

If you are ordering through Ali Express, search under Orders and click View Details.

When looking under logistics information, the shipping method used will be under the international shipping company. It should be "ePacket" along with the tracking number if the package is indeed shipped via ePacket.

If you did not purchase the product from Express, you can also determine how the package was shipped by looking at the tracking number.

ePacket tracking numbers usually start with an "L". If there is no tracking number, it is likely that the package was not sent via ePacket.

Does the customer have to pay customs / duties / taxes with ePacket delivery?

EPacket shipments go through the traditional customs custom which may require customers to pay all debts and taxes applicable upon arrival.

It is best to check with your local laws to see when you had to pay debts / taxes on imported purchases and what types of items. Your product ask the merchant who sends the item if there may be any debts or taxes upon arrival of the product.

What does this ultimately mean for me if I use AliExpress to do dropshipping?

Shipping ePacket should be one of the main factors, if not the most important factor when deciding which products to dropship on AliExpress Shipping through ePacket allows your customers to receive their purchase within a reasonable time while allowing them to track their order while they wait.

This is also the most consistent option for merchants and customers.

Shipments of another type seem unreliable unless you are considering more expensive shipping options from China and Hong Kong. Finally, ePacket is usually offered free shipping or cheap as an option, it allows you as a dropshipping store owner or Oberlo to offer free shipping.
